Development of the Reduced-Scale Vehicle Model for the Dynamic Characteristic Analysis of the Hyperloop

This study addresses the Hyperloop characterized by a capsule-type vehicle, superconducting electrodynamic suspension (SC-EDS) levitation, and driving in near-vacuum tube. Because is different from conventional transportation, various considerations are required vehicle-design stage. Particularly, pre-investigation of vehicle dynamic characteristics essential because close relationship among design parameters, such as size, weight, suspensions. Accordingly, 1/10 scale system model, enabling analysis motions vertical lateral directions, was developed. The reduced-scale model composed bogies operated Stewart platforms, secondary units, car body. To realize bogie motion, an operation algorithm reflecting external disturbance, SC-EDS interaction between body, applied to platform. Flexible rubber springs were used unit enable characteristic motion. Results verification tests compared with simulation results examine fitness developed model. showed that could successfully represent complete characteristics, owing enhanced precision platform allowing biaxial motions.
